XMTR is a Berlin based audio/video project of Francesco Della Toffola and resident of Modern Bön collective, that focuses on an experimental approach to analyse and reinterpretate underlying soundscapes of our sensible reality.
Part of the visual art collective MRAAK, XMTR presents different sound experiences through field recordings, drones, granular texturization, diy synths and circuit-bent radios in communication with analog/digital light and video explorations. Conjugating light plays control through sounds, arduino controls and drones, the audio and visual experience created by the artist generate a repetitive, enthralling yet dynamic experience which submerge the listener with a carpet of drones and noises, which during the live sets are paired with flash and blinking lights.
❤️My original plan was to go through and buy individual tracks like I do with most compilation albums, but honestly there are just so many good ones that I wound up buying the whole thing. More than simple drones (though there are plenty of those, too), this album collects many of the best and most innovative dark ambient artists in one place, including many who are new to me. A must-have for any dark ambient fan's collection. Plushie Fanatic
