DOLPO
Dolpo represents one of the nowadays most interesting artistic conjunction points between experimental ritual music and doom/sludge. The italian collective propose a new, yet very traditional version of Tibetan Bön chanting tradition with a wide use of the typical tibetan brass instruments, masterfully combined with fuzzy, dark and pitched-down sludge/doom tunes. The result is an sacral, yet utterly pitched obscure heavy music which blend elements of both experimental and doom genres. Their discography counts a couple of apparition, whose most relevant is maybe their LP "Inner Himalayas" released by Hypogeum Records, Dio Drone and Bleu Audio Records. Their contribution to the Modern Bön VA is an unreleased song.
The latest album from Perth producer Phil Stroud offers a mesmerizing vision of "artificial sonic ecosystems," ambient at its most organic. Bandcamp New & Notable Apr 29, 2020
